Cardio
A very important style of training, and one that can help trim and tone your body. It's also extremely beneficial to your health as cardiovascular disease, or heart disease, is a major killer, so as this method can strengthen your heart and lungs, as well as burn fat, you should be looking to do some sort of cardio training at least 3 times a week.

Now, cardio isn't everyone's favourite, as there are many of you out there who 'don't like running'. As there are many forms of cardio, it's not just all about running, but yes running does give awesome results and is an everyday bodily function, compared to possible machine orientated exercises.

One thing we should be aware of though, is that the regular jog, run or walk as your weekly exercise routine, may not be that beneficial to you. It may make you ask, 'why do i not notice much change?'

Here are some possible reasons..
- Before your body can utilise muscles for toning up or even lasting a good run, jog or walk program, you have to have the muscles there or developed so they can actually sustain the routine. Imagine buying a really hot powerful lamborgini, but putting a tiny 4 cylinder engine in it.. It wouldnt give you much power, it would take ages to burn fuel, etc etc, so you just wouldnt do that to yourself. So you need the muscle power to make a run, jog or walk effective, hence why the logical viewpoint of athletes being able to last so long.. as they have trained and conditioned their muscles through strength training first.

- Something like walking, if you manage to do it everyday and don't either have a desk job, or are a couch potato, won't do that much for your fitness, as your body is already used to it, or since you've been doing for ages, you've reached a level of no further progression. So upping it to a jog, run, or interval training.. e.g walk for 3 mins, jog/run for 1 min, continuously.. will do more for you, as your challenging your body to grow, improve and adapt.
